A 12 member Chau dance team from Purulia, was invited to perform at ‘A Tapestry of Sacred Music’, organized by Esplanade – Theatres by the Bay, a cultural space located in Singapore’s Marina Bay area. The selected Chau team is part of Rural Craft and Cultural Hubs initiative, a collaborative project between Department of MSME&T, Government of West Bengal and UNESCO to safeguard traditional cultural practices and improve socio-economic prospects of cultural practitioners.

5 Chau artists led by Jagannath Chowdhury and Biren Kalindi participated in the 24th edition of Urkult Festival in Sweden in 2019. Art form practitioners from all around the world participated in the workshop to showcase their art-form. Audience was mesmerized to see the colourful and lively performance of Chau.

In 2019, 5 Chau artists led by Jagannath Chowdhury participated in the India Summer Days Festival in Karlsruhe, Germany from July 13-14. This was their second consecutive year at the festival and the crowd was very excited to see them performing the vibrant Chau at the festival stage.

Eminent Chau artist Jagannath Chowdhury and his daughter Mousumi Chowdhury showcased their art-from at Transform Festival in Trondheim, Norway from 1-7 October 2018. Mousumi did a workshop with the kids at the Festival.

5 Chau artists of Purulia participated in the India Summer Days Festival in Karlsruhe, Germany from July 14-15, 2018. The team included Biren Kalindi, Bhagbat Mahato, Bappaditya Mahato, Binod Singh Mura and Pashupati Mahato. Different art form practitioners participated in the festival. The Chau artists of Purulia stunned the audience with their amazing acrobatic skill and vivid performance.

2 young Chau dancers Bappaditya Mahato and Bijay Kishore Mahali attended the Seattle International Dance Festival from June 21 – 25 2017. They were the lead performers of the production “EKONAMA” by Sapphire Creations, an eminent contemporary dance academy of Kolkata, run by reputed dancer and choreographer Sudarshan Chakravorty. They were highly appreciated for their performance During their visit, they also perform at other places in the USA including NABC

The International Folklore Festival BALTICA is a unique co-project of the three Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Baltica-2017 was held at Vilnius in Lithuania from July 4 – 9, 2017. The 9-member Indian delegation included eight-member Chau team led by Biren Kalindi and Manoranjan Mondal. Teams from China, South Korea, Greece, Spain, Poland, Brasil and Ukraine, apart from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania also participated in the festival. The Chau team performed at the Vilnius Congress Hall at the inauguration ceremony on July 4. They also performed at Vilinius Congress Hall, National Theatre, Bernardinu Sodas park and 2 nearby villages. Around 10000 audience enjoyed their show and interacted with the artists.

An 8-member delegation represented India at the 10th International Folklore Festival of Noyon in France, held from July 4 – 8, 2017. It included a five-member Chau team led by Jagannath Chowdhury of Purulia. Teams from China, Romania, Chile and South France also attended the festival at Noyon, which is a commune 100 km north of Paris. The performances were held at nearby communes, such as Roye, Rethondes, Berlancourt, Ham and Clairoix. Team India performed at the inauguaration ceremony on Jul 4 at the Noyon Cathedral. There after they performed at Roye and Rethondes and around 3000 audience saw the shows. All the performances were highly appreciated by the audience.
